Case 1 – without a proxy
So, we use nslookup to find the IP address of google.com and then use telnet (to start a TCP session on port 80). If we had used the hostname directly in the telnet command, the DNS lookup would have happened in the backend.
Once the connection is established, (it shows the escape character), we make the HTTP GET request as shown using HTTP/1.1 and the web server responds with a new location to follow or a redirect:
